You need

  • A quiet place to walk
  • Paper and crayon (optional)

Let's play

  1. Walk slowly together, inside or outside.
  2. Stop, close your eyes and count to ten. What can you hear?
  3. Name each sound: birds, cars, wind, a dog, footsteps.
  4. Back home, draw the sounds you heard.
Grown-up tip: Ask "Is it near or far? Loud or quiet?" to stretch their thinking.
