Rain Cloud in a Jar

You need

  • A clear jar of water
  • Shaving cream
  • Blue food coloring mixed with a little water
  • A dropper or spoon

Let's play

  1. Fill the jar most of the way with water.
  2. Squirt a fluffy shaving cream "cloud" on top.
  3. Drip the blue water onto the cloud, a little at a time.
  4. Watch: when the cloud gets too full, it "rains"!
Grown-up tip: Real clouds rain when their tiny drops join up and get too heavy to float. Keep shaving cream away from eyes and mouths.
