How we chose these topics
Little kids are natural scientists. These topics follow what preschool and kindergarten–grade 1 science actually covers: the Next Generation Science Standards for K–1 (pushes and pulls, sunlight, what plants and animals need, weather, habitats, light and sound, caring for Earth) and the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework for ages 3–5 (observing, predicting, testing and talking about what you find).
Every topic pairs a hands-on activity with printables, so kids do the science first and draw or sort it after. Each topic page lists the standards it supports.
