The Loud, Loud Thunder
The sky grew dark and gray. Flash! went the lightning. BOOM! went the thunder.
Lulu Bunny dove under her blanket. Her long ears shook. "I don't like that noise!"
Grandpa Bunny sat down beside her. "Thunder is the big BOOM that lightning makes," he said. "It sounds scary, but we are safe and cozy inside." "Want to play a counting game?"
"When you see the flash, we count — one, two, three — until the boom. The bigger the number, the farther away the storm is."
Flash! "One, two, three..." BOOM!
Flash! "One, two, three, four, five, six..." boom.
Flash! "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten..." rumble.
"The storm is going away!" cheered Lulu, peeking out from her blanket. Soon, the only sound was soft rain, pitter-patter, on the roof. And Lulu fell asleep listening to it.
