Lulu Shares a Carrot

Lulu Bunny planted one little seed. She watered it every morning. She sang it a song every night.

One day, a green top popped out of the dirt. Lulu pulled and pulled. Pop! Out came a bright orange carrot.

"My very own carrot!" said Lulu. She was just about to take a big crunchy bite when — knock, knock — Benny Bear came by.

Then Pip came waddling. Then Fizz came hopping. Then Ollie came swooping down from his tree.

Lulu looked at her one carrot. She looked at her four friends. Hmm.

Lulu got a little knife and, with help from her mom, she cut the carrot into five pieces. One for Benny, one for Pip, one for Fizz, one for Ollie, and one for Lulu.

Each piece was small. But eating it together made it taste extra big.

"Next time," said Benny, "let's plant five seeds!" So they did. And that summer, the garden was full of carrots — enough for everyone.
